THE SPELLING BEE

On Friday, February 9th Kid Castle had their First Annual Spelling Bee. It was a huge success and all the students cheered on their classmates till the bitter end. We started with a Class Preliminary Round and from that round we found the top 3 spellers from each class. These 3 students went head to head on Fridays competition. The winner of their class went on to the Finals. The Final students included: Tini (Grade 1), Cathy (Grade 2), Geetika (Grade 3) and Lucian (Grade 4). Each student had to spell words that were on par with their grade level. It came down to Lucian and Tini and in the end, Lucian Ly took home the Grand Prize. What a great experience and we are already looking forward to the next Spelling Bee.

ANTI-BULLYING IN ACTION STUDENT AND TEACHER WORKSHOPS
Wednesday, Jan. 31 st and Thursday, Feb. 1 st (2:30 – 3:30)
Location: Kid Castle International School
Participants: Kindergarten – Grade 5
Students learn most effectively through guided instruction and peer
collaboration. Offering children opportunities to discuss and practice
compassion, self-reflection, and social awareness can aid them in building
positive, healthy relationships with their classmates and school community.
These workshops will help to defuse bullying both in and out of Kid Castle.
During our workshop students were able to learn about conflict management
and now Kid Castle has its very own conflict managers

RUN TO GIVE 2017

This year our parents and students and staff took part in a Community Charity Run/Event for “Operation Smile”. This charity raises funds for children who were born with a Cleft Palate (a split in the roof of their mouth). We were so happy to be a part of raising over $10,000 for the children. It means so much to us as a school to be able to encourage empathy. Encouraging a sense of empathy in children at a young age helps them develop lifelong skills that will serve to help them understand other cultures and respond positively to them. Thanks again for all who came out and supported this amazing cause.
